EPO 2024 TECH GUIDE

Is there day of reg?

Yes, but only for individual races and it’s $20, but only if you’re already signed up for an Omnium and are adding an individual stage. Otherwise day of reg is $55. If you want to register for an Omnium you need to reg by 9:00 am on Friday. Any and all special BikeReg codes, super secret or otherwise turn to pumpkins at the close of registration on Friday morning so do it now. Stop reading, go do it, and then come back and finish reading this.

Which side do I pin my numbers on?

FRIDAY- Numbers go on the right side

SATURDAY- Numbers go on the left side

Sunday- Numbers go on the left side

Wait, wut? You guys have numbers?

We’re using WSBA numbers because most racers already own them and they are rad (stretchy).

If you do not have numbers we will have rental numbers on-site at the reg tent (not stretchy. The numbers, or the tent). US funds only! We see you Canada, what with your Loonies, and your Toonies, and your healthcare…

If you’re not already a WSBA member you should definitely consider signing up. This race would not be happening without them. While you’re at it, thank a volunteer because this race definitely wouldn’t happen without them either, and when you’re done, ask about what volunteer help is still needed, because it is.

So it’s an Omnium. How’s that work?

Each race can be done individually. Do one. Do three. Do all three twice by entering two Omniums (it’s being attempted). The better you place, the more points you get, with additional points available via mid-race primes. The Omnium entrant in each category with the most points at the end wins. Only Omnium entrants can place in the Omnium. Savvy readers will note that means you need to reg by Friday morning at 9:00.

Here’s the weighted points system- This definitely rewards winning. Go win.

I want to race this Omnium field, but compete for the WSBA championship, which is in another field?

Yeah, the WSBA Champs wasn’t part of the original plan, but we’re psyched to host it. The Omnium categories don’t perfectly align, so we’re offering this- If you’re doing say the Men’s 2/3 Omnium for example, we still want you to have a chance to race for the glory that is the WSBA Cat 3 Crit Champs kit, so you can use the promo code WSBAchamps to add the Saturday only 3/4 race to your day for cheap.

Only those doing the Omnium will earn Omnium points. In the above scenario, if you’re the 4th Cat 3 across the line in the 3/4 race on Saturday, but the first three racers are not doing the 3/4 Omnium but instead doing the 2/3 Omnium then you will still get full points. They’re just here for those steezy stripes. It’s complicated, but just go fast and turn left (on Saturday). It’ll take care of itself and we’ll do the math. I mean, I won’t, but someone smart will.

The WSBAchamps code should work for a bunch of categories where this same dynamic is at play, but be forewarned; it’s super easy for us to cross-reference who is legit in an Omnium category and legit adding a race for the jersey and who isn’t. I will definitely shame you, perhaps in the form of giving everyone in your field a call-up except you. Don’t test it. DM on Insta or use the contact page above for specific whatabouts.

Food and whatnot

We have some great options directly on-course for Friday night, including Brooklyn Bros. Pizza at Corner 8 on Lombard and Hewitt or The Independent on Corner 4 at Rockefeller and Hewitt. Or if you want amazing Thai, near Corner 1 you can try Sabaijai Thai or down past Corner 8 at Thai Gusto. If chicken is your thing, head to That Chicken Place near Corner 5 at Oakes and Grand or cross the start/finish to get a cold beverage and a burger at Tony’s or a nice Italian meal at Luca’s. But our favorite spot for a snack and pre-race caffeine is Artisan’s Books and Coffee. Go tell Judi thanks for being awesome.

Saturday’s course will feature Artisan’s iced coffee as well as a couple of food truck options. Celebrate the win with a team pie from Pisces Pies or cross the pedestrian bridge at Grand and 16th down to the waterfront where the source of the delicious garlic smells can be found at Lombardi’s. Thank them for the prizes they’ve donated while you’re there.

Sunday’s course is in my neighborhood, so come over for pancakes. Not really, but we will have a couple of food trucks on course and more iced coffee from Artisans.

Wherever you find yourself hungry on race day, please take a moment to spend locally and tell them why you’re here. This race couldn’t happen without a huge help from the City of Everett as well as from the many restaurants, businesses, and residents who share their streets and parking with us.

Parking

On that parking note, please check out the parking maps on the menu at the top. The TLDR version is to leave the roads closest to the course for the residents and businesses who cannot park on the course itself. Again, this doesn’t happen without a lot of community buy-in, so please help us to carry that into 2025 and beyond.
